The start is made at KMZ in 1958-64. About 77 thousand copies of this device were produced. The camera received a number of advanced performance characteristics at that time.

It was a real application for a professional camera. Helios-44 2/58 was first seen as a standard lens.

Now this optical scheme has set everyone's teeth on edge. But then it was a breakthrough. Moreover, the lens had a jumping aperture! Lens mount - Start mount is not compatible with anything. The bayonet design is a union nut on the camera body.

The lens does not rotate at all during the locking process. When installed, it is inserted into the slots of the bayonet immediately in the working position. After that, the bayonet nut is turned and the lens is fixed.

The working distance is 42 mm. The short flange distance makes it possible to use different adapters comfortably.
